In an effort to streamline your life, you've ditched your paper-bound agenda and sticky notes for a sleek Palm handheld. The latest versions are chockablock with new features and possibilities, and it would be a shame to let all that power and convenience go to waste. Palm Organizers: Visual QuickStart Guide is the quickest way to learn what your Palm OS device can do for you and how to best use it.

Palm Organizers: Visual QuickStart Guide explains the Palm basics and applications using concise, step-by-step instructions and plenty of illustrations. But author Jeff Carlson takes it one step further, providing detailed strategies for integrating your Palm into your daily life. This edition of the guide has been thoroughly updated to cover the latest in Palm technology, including Palm OS 5 and expansion cards, plus sections on wireless Internet access, Palm desktop for Windows, collaborative computing, and new devices from Sony, Kyocera, Handspring (now part of PalmOne), and more.

Corrections
Page 31, Table 2.2: An extra Graffiti space character was printed; a space is just a single stroke from left to right.

Page 35, Table 2.8: The Shift character should not appear, since Graffiti2 doesn't use a stroke to get into Shift mode.

Now Available! Palm Organizers, Third Edition: VQS Addendum

When Palm (now PalmOne) released the Tungsten T3 and Tungsten E near the end of 2003, it was too late for me to incorporate the changes introduced with those devices into the print version of the book. Some of those changes include:

  • Date Book has been renamed Calendar, and features an improved Agenda view as the starting view.
  • Color-coding and categories in Calendar (finally!)
  • Address Book has been renamed Contacts, and supports many more fields to improve compatibility with Outlook.
  • To Do List is now named Tasks.

As soon as the book went off to the printer, I had to jump into writing my next book, iChat AV for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide, to meet another tight press deadline. That was followed by the holidays, the new year, Macworld Expo, and a quick turnaround for delivering iMovie 4 & iDVD 4 for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide.

Now, finally, the update is available! Click one of the following links to download the PDF.
